Day 1 |
Arrival in Kathmandu. You will be met at the airport and transferred to Hotel. We will have an elaborate discussion about the trek over the welcome dinner. |
Day 2 |
Sightseeing in Kathmandu and preparation for the trek. Today you will visit some of the historical and cultural landmarks of the city. You will visit Boudhanath stupa in the morning. The stupa was heavily damaged by the major earthquake of 2015 but the reconstruction is completed and it is open to tourist. It is one of the largest stupas in the world. The all-seeing red, white and blue eyes of Buddha are painted on all four sides of the stupa, similar to Swayambhunath, and surrounded by hundreds of fluttering prayer flags, prayer wheels and small images of Buddha. During the day, you will have a tour to Patan Durbar Square. While in Patan, you will explore the shrines, temples and ancient Newari architecture. The square is full of ancient palaces, temples, and shrines noted for their exquisite carvings. One can rummage for treasures and souvenirs in the various shops around the square. The main attractions of the Patan Durbar Square are the ancient Royal palace itself. Nepal Dream Everest Base camp with Kala Patthar trek 2 You will also visit the house of Kumari, the living goddess, who manifests herself in the body of a virgin girl. In the evening you can stroll in the alleys of Thamel and buy some stuff you will need during the trek if you have missed while packing. |
Day 3 |
Fly to Lukla (2810m) & trek to Phakding (2660m). 3-4 hours walk. Today you will catch an early morning flight to Lukla. Your approx. 45 flight to the Lukla airport, the one with of the shortest runways in the world, will take you on a spectacular journey to the Himalayas. After your breakfast in Lukla (2840m), you team leader will brief you about the safety talks as well as introduce your porters. Your trek begins now. You will trek for around 3 hours through the cultured Sherpa villages with exceptional beauty following the DudhKoshi valley to reach Phakding. On your way, you will get the first glimpse of some of the mountains you will get to know well over the next week. Accommodation: Tea house. Meals: (B,L,D) |
Day 4 |
Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m). 7-8 hours walk. Your real trek in the thin air begins from Phakding. Today you will trek for around 7-8 hours with scenic beauty, deep George and soaring cliff as your backdrop. You will walk around 3 hours before you reach Jorsale for Lunch. You will trek through pine forests, crossing different suspension bridges and encountering the ever-smiling Sherpa people on the different colourful villages on the way before entering ‘The Gateway to Everest’, Namche Bazaar. Namche is the largest as well as the most prosperous village in the Khumbu. The gorgeous views and the great Sherpa hospitality will amaze you for forever. Situated in an arch-shaped mountain, Namche will be your last chance for a hot shower, an ATM booth, gear shops and a good pub as well. Today, you will have the first glimpse of the majestic Everest. You will also have great views of Kusum Kangroo, Thamserku and Holy Khumbiyela mountain on your way. Accommodation: Tea house. Meals: (B,L,D) |
Day 5 |
Explore Namche Bazaar. Acclimatization Day. Khumjung Hiking (3900m). Today will be your acclimatization cum exploration day at Namche. You can explore local market,visit local museums, mingle with local sherpas or you may as well hike to the famous Everest View Hotel built by Japanese in the '60s to catch a glimpse of the Mount Everest. You can also trek to Syangboche Airport (3700m) - perhaps the highest airfield on the earth. |
Day 6 |
Trek to Tyangboche (3870m). 6-7 hours Walk. Your today’s trek of around 6-7 hours will take you to the beautiful village of Tyangboche. On your way, you will visit the Khumjung Gompa which was believed to possess the skull of a Yeti. Wouldn’t it be a rare phenomenon to witness? The Phunki and Tyangboche monastery on the trail will offer you one of the most magnificent views in the world. You can also offer your prayers to the gods and nature at active Tyangboche monastery. According to legend, Lama SangeDorjee, who came from Tibet’s Rongphu Monastery, founded Tyangboche Monastery in the 17th century. Thyangboche was destroyed by an earthquake in 1933, rebuilt and again badly damaged by a fire in 1989. Construction of the present monastery was completed in 1992. Spend a bit of time visiting the monastery and the nearby museum. Tyangboche is in the panoramic place surrounded by Kwangde (6187m.), Twachee (6542m.), Amadablam (6812m), Everest (8848m.), Nuptse (7879m), Lhotse (8501m.) |
Day 7 |
Trek to Pheriche (4240m).5-6 hours walk. The sound of the horns and cymbals that come as the monk perform their first prayer of the day will wake you up early in the morning. Leaving Thyangboche, you will descent down to Debuche, a small but very beautiful nunnery, passing through the forest of birches conifers and rhododendrons. Your chance of spotting the national bird of Nepal, Danphe is very high as hunting has been banned in this area and pheasants and other birds are found in abundance. You may also witness musk deer and mountain goats on the way. You will pass further houses and “mani” walls as the trail continues along the river valley and forest. After crossing the ImjaKhola you will ascend to Pangboche with a closer view of the Towering AmaDablam (6856m). From Pangboche you will climb towards Pheriche with a short stop at the beautiful Orsho village. |
Day 8 |
Pheriche – acclimatization day >Nangartsang Hill Hiking (5010m) You can spend this day exploring the Pheriche and acclimatise to the high altitude by taking short hikes. You can also have a trip to Nagartsang Gompa and the surrounding valley or take an even longer trek to ImjaTse Valley toward the Island peak for a magnificent view of Lhotse, AmaDablam and Cho Oyu. Nepal Dream Everest Base camp with Kala Patthar trek 4 You can also take part in a short briefing class conducted by Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) on Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) on the afternoon. |
Day 9 |
Trek to Lobuche (4940m). You will leave the village and will walk on a wide and grassy plateau to PhulungKharka from where your long upward climb will begin. You will see the mountain stones and pebbles straight ahead which is the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. You ascend steeply up this moraine to reach the top where there are many memorial cairns to those who have died on Everest. The landscape is now wild and rocky and there is a real feeling of being high in the mountains. Following the often frozen stream at one side of the moraine, you will finally reach Lobuche. Earlier this place used to be a yak grazing settlement and was inhibited only during summer but now it is open throughout the winter serving trekkers and climbers and is the jumping off point for Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. |
Day 10 |
Trek to Everest Base Camp (5365m) and walk back to GorakShep (5160m). 7-8 hours walk. From Lobuche, you will trek to Everest Base Camp via GorakShep that includes a challenging climb past the Khumbu Glacier. You will cross the ChangriNup Glacier on your way to GorakShep. Here you will find monuments dedicated to climbers who have died on Everest as well as trekkers who have succumbed to High Altitude. After lunch, you will head towards the Everest Base Camp. Making your ways through blue ice pinnacle and plateaus you will finally reach the Base Camp near Pumo Ri. Though you may not see Everest from here, the walk in the tough terrain will surely be rewarding. In the late spring you will likely see numbers of climbers there but in the fall, there is less. After your successful trek to the best camp, you will return to GorakShep for the overnight stay. |
Day 11 |
Trek to Kalapatthar (5545m). The highest point on the trek. Back to Pheriche. 7-8 hours. Today you will wake up early to reach Kala Patthar, an amazing view point for Everest, the Khumbu Glacier and many other peaks. The climb is very difficult in the beginning because the first incline is very steep. The climb won’t be easy but the view you will be privileged will be priceless. As you keep walking the sudden view of Pumo Ri(7165m) will be a surprise. Below the Pumo Ri you will see a tiny black hill, our destination, Kala Patthar. Finally, after you reach the ride, the sensational 360-degree mountain vista of Everest, Thamserku, Lhotse, Nuptse, AmaDablam and other surrounding peaks will surely blow your mind. You will then descend down to Pheriche leaving those majestic mountains behinds and indelible memories in your mind. |
Day 12 |
Trek back to Tengboche (3870m). 5-6 hours walk. You will descend towards Tengboche passing through Pangboche. Pangboche is one of the round-the-year inhibited villages in the area. You will visit the Pangboche Gompa. After exploring Pangboche you will trek down to Tengboche for the night. |
Day 13 |
Trek to Monjo (2835m). 5-6 hours walk. Trekking down through forests along with sweet scented hillsides, past mani stones, across the DudhKoshi river you will reach Namche. From Namche, you will again walk down through the Namche Wall that you climbed what seems an eternity ago, and Nepal Dream Everest Base camp with Kala Patthar trek 5 wander along the river back to Monjo. |
Day 14 |
Trek back to Lukla (2810m). 6-7 hours walk. Today will be your last day to trek in the beautiful mountain terrains. The leisurely walk of 6-7 hours will take you to Lukla. During the afternoon, you will have enough time to explore the Lukla bazaar on your own. On the evening, it will be your last dinner with the entire crew who assisted you to make your trip successful. You can share any gift with them if you may wish. |
Day 15 |
Fly back to Kathmandu (1300m). Weather permitting the short and spectacular flight will take you to Kathmandu before lunch. You will have free time during the afternoon for further sightseeing, shopping or may just relax in one of the rooftop restaurants. You may buy some embroideries, ceramic, thangkas or carpets for your friends and families. In the evening,Wwe will enjoy a final night together, reliving the trek and our extraordinary achievements over the farewell dinner. |
Day 16 |
Final departure. Today you will fly back home with exhilarating memories in your mind of the Himalayas. If you don’t feel like leaving, you can extend your trip for few days as well. |
